Chelsea 0- Liverpool

October 26, 2008

February 2004 was the last time Chelsea lost at home in the Premiership, and that was to Arsenal. That fantastic record was at last broken by Liverpool in a pulsating performance at Stamford Bridge.Liverpool scored in the 0th minute through Alonso and although Chelsea threatened at times they never really looked like overturning Liverpool. In fact Liverpool were the only team that really looked like scoring.

Sunderland vs Liverpool Betting Preview Premiership Saturday 16th August Kick off 5.30 pm

August 13, 2008

Sunderland last season were expected by many to be one season premiership wonders. Roy Keane has high standards and always expects his players to sweat blood for the team and for the result.  Were sunderland lucky to stay up last year- no. Will they stay up this year -yes.

Keane has strengthened the team with 4 strongish close season signings: Malbranque, Tainio and Chimbondo have all arrived from Spurs whilst the most exciting signing from Sunderland’s point of view is the erratic, entertaining and occasionally brilliant Diouf. A snip at £2.5 million.

Liverpool meanwhile are beginning to be classed as the Premiership’s underachievers. They finished 4th last season but had a dire October and November which cost them dear. When you think of Liverpool now, you think inconsistency. You never know how they’re going to perform; a situation not helped by Rafa Benitez and his unsuccessful rotation system last season.

Perhaps with the arrival of Robbie Keane to team up with Torres up front things will change and Liverpool will win their first premiership for 20 years. If they fail it could see the demise of Benitez with American owners and Liverpool supporters impatient for premiership success.

So what’s going to happen on Saturday: first day results are difficult to predict. In the last 6 seasons ,however,Liverpool have won 4 times with Sunderland’s only success being 2-1 in 2002.

My feeling is that on Saturday its going to be a draw, probably 1-1. Best odds for this are:14/5 with Bet Chronicle.

Robbie Keane transfer update

July 18, 2008

According to recent reports Liverpool are set to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane, for the sum of around £20 million for the Republic of Ireland international.

According to the Liverpool Echo the transfer could be completed in the next 2 days after Spurs boss Juande Ramos stated that he needs the money!

The former Leeds and Coventry forward is believed to be eager to move to Anfield and Ramos’ comments at a pre-season training camp in Spain appeared to suggest that both Keane and Dimitar Berbatov could be on their way.

He commented: “We will see what happens there, but we are talking about two very important players.

“For the moment they are with us, but whatever happens the idea is to have a great squad, with the potential to allow us to aim to improve on what we managed last season.

“We have to be realistic and see what we are starting with and who we are competing against.

“There are some big clubs who have spent a lot of money over many years and have a certain advantage. In fact they claim they want to sign some of our players.

“At Tottenham, we have had a clear philosophy regarding buying and selling for years. The idea is signing young players, promising and talented ones, and if important offers for older players are made, studying it to see what is the best for the club.”

Keane is valued in the region of £20m having only cost Spurs £7m in 2002 but Liverpool will offer less in the hope of achieving a cut price bargain !
