Brazil 0-0 Colombia

 Brazil were unable to defeat Colombia in this South American World Cup Qualifying match

 for 2010. The score was a repeat of their match in Colombia last year and left Brazil second in the World Cup

qualifying group 6 points behind Paraguay and one ahead of Argentina in third plsce.

DC United 4 - 1 Los Angeles Galaxy

DC United won their home MLS game against David Beckham’s Los Angeles Galaxy comfortably during extremely hot weather conditions.

Moreno opened the scoring for the home side in the 5th minute from the penalty spot. Edson Buddle equalized LA galaxy in the 26th minute.

DC United completed an easy win after Emilio twice and Gallardo scored.

 In the MLS league Los Angeles Galaxy are 5th nine points behind the leaders whike by virtue of this game DC United climb to 3rd.

Spain 1 Germany 0: European Championship final

Germany were completely outplayed in the European Championship final of 2008 by a more exciting and skilful Spanish team. Torres put Spain ahead in the 33rd minute but there should have been at least 2 more as the Germans were rarely in the game.

Spain were deserved winners of the tournament and have installed themselves as one of the favourites for the World cup in 2010.

Congratulations Spain !

Spain-the first final in decades

The Spanish football team have won nothing for years. They start as favourites but my view is that the Germans will win.

Watch this great video with Germany’s goals en route to the European Football Championship final on June 29th in Basle,Switzerland.

Germany are the first side that qualified for the EURO 2008 final with a dramatic 3-2 semi-final win against Turkey.  Low’s squad gained 4 wins but also lost against Croatia in the group stages.It all started with a 2-0 win over Poland. The second match was a 1-2 defeat against the Group B winners, Croatia. The  1-0 win against Austria was decisive for qualifying to the quarter-finals.
Then a quarter-final 3-2 win against Portugal, the  favourites of the competition at that stage.

Then Turkey and now the final.

Houston Dynamo 1 FC Dallas 1

Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas, two teams ranked in the middle part of the MLS table, have drawn 1-1 .
The home side opened the scoring in the 21st minute as Ching hit the target.

FC Dallas managed to equalize in the 62nd minute and both teams received a point. Houston Dunamo count 19 points and rank 8th in the MLS while Dallas are placed two spots lower with 17 points.

Iraq 0 Qatar 1

 In this world Cup qualifying match for 2010 Qatar defeated Iraq in a closely fought game.

The winning goal was scored in the seventy sixth minute.

Qatar are now level on points with Australia in this qualifying group.

Japan 1 Bahrain 0

Japan beat Bahrain 1-0 at home in the final minute of this tightly fought World Cup 2010 qualifying game. The goal was unusual as you can see from the highlights below-it was scored by  Uchida.

Although the heavy rain affected play Japan should have scored more than once but squandered numerous opportunities including a penalty kick.

Japan are first in their group with 13 points, Bahrain  second with 11, Oman 3rd with 8 and Thailand are bottom with only one point..

Iran 2 Kuwait 0

Iran beat bottom team Kuwait in this world cup qualifier. Kuwait are currently bottom in the group battling for qualification for the 2010 world cup.
 Nekounam scored in the seventeenth minute with a lng range shot followed by  Rezaei  with a close in goal in the final minute of the match. Not really inspiring but a sound win for Iran over Kuwait.

Chivas USA 2 Chicago Fire 0

Chivas USA  defeated  Chicago Fire by 2 goals to 0. Chivas,thanks to this win climbed to 6th in the MLS ,two points behind Chicago Fire who are still above them in 5th.

 Klejstan and Braun scored the goals for Chivas in the twenty sixth and thirty first minutes.
