Lampard to go -or not to go ?

July 17, 2008

Chelsea star Frank Lampard is uncertain  whether to ask for a transfer or wait until the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge are completed, according to Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti.

Inter want to sign Lampard and have made an offer for Lampard but have so far had no feedback from Chelsea, who are not willing to negotiate.

“Lampard is a very serious lad and certainly he is torn between having the pleasure of something new or having a sense of duty towards his current club. In the end it is up to him to find a solution,” commented Moratti.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan are looking at alternative transfer targets in case they are unable to bring the England international to Serie A to renew his partnership with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

“Lampard is the priority but naturally in cases like this I have been looking around for some time,” Moratti told Inter’s own television station..

“If it is not possible to take Lampard, we would take a player with the most similar characteristics.”

Frank Lampard-will he or won’t he ?

July 12, 2008

Massimo Moratti says Inter Milan have done everything they possibly can to sign Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard.

Chelsea have turned down an £8million offer from Inter for Lampard, who only has 12 months remaining on his contract.

Lampard has not yet  agreed to an extension of his contract at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are adamant that  30-year-old Lampard will not be sold during the transfer window.

Inter are still determined to sign the England international and Inter president Moratti now states that the ball is in Lampard’s court-he needs toagree to the sign

“We have made our offer to Chelsea and now it depends on the player,” said Moratti in Italy.

“He is a player we like, but we cannot do any more than that.”

Meanwhile, Inter striker Julio Cruz is wants  Lampard to join Inter for the new season.

“I hope Lampard does arrive,” Cruz stated.

“I think that over time we’ll see the situation develop. It is important for a club to have players of a world-class level in its ranks and Inter can certainly afford someone like Lampard.

“It is good to see the side grow, as with so many tournaments like the UEFA Champions League, Coppa Italia and Serie A, it is crucial to have many good alternatives.”

Inter approach to Lampard rejected

July 8, 2008

Chelsea have rejected an approach from Inter Milan for Frank Lampard and will not discuss the transfer of the midfielder.

Lampard is Inter’s top summer target after former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was appointed coach of the Serie A champions.

Mourinho had previously suggested the Nerazzurri would have to wait until next summer to sign the 30-year-old, who has 12 months left on his contract but

rumours have been prevalent  that Inter Milan wanted to take the Lampard to Serie A before the close of the transfer window.

Inter have tried to open discussions with Chelsea, but the Premier League club have dismissed Inter and say that Lampard is not for sale at any price.

No financial offer

“Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has received an official approach from Internazionale to discuss the possible transfer of Frank Lampard,” said a statement on the club’s official website.

“Contrary to reports no financial offer was made.

“Chelsea FC has informed Inter this morning that we will not enter into any discussions regarding the transfer of Frank Lampard.”

Lampard has been negotiating a new contract at Stamford Bridge, but hasn’t reached an agreement as yet.

Chelsea have now made their position unequivocal and  will not  part with a player who has scored 110 goals in nearly 370 appearances for Chelsea.
