Lazio defeated the Greeks from PAOK 2-0 in this pre-season friendly. Matuzalem opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a great long range shot. Another goal from Meghni came for Lazio at the start of the second half in the 47th minute.

Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid  only drew 1-1  in Frankfurt against Eintracht. The home side opened the scoring in the 7th minute as Bellaid put the ball home from close range from a fortunate rebound.

Robinho equalized for Real Madrid in the 71st minute after a good Saviola run thus ensuring that the match ended in a draw.

Chelsea Open day

YesterdayChelsea FC heldan open day where supporters could visit and watch the players and new manager Luis Filipe Scolari.

According to Sky sports there is a new work ethic prevalent under Scolari with all Chelsea players quietly confident of displaying more silverware at Stamford Bridge than they managed last season.

Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 AS Roma

AS Roma were convincingly defeated once again after a trip to England. They seem  to have learned no lessons after their 7-1 Champions League thrashing against Manchester United 2 years ago. Tottenham Hotspur  won 5-0 against the Italians from Roma, runners up in the 2007-08 season in Serie A.

 Spurs saw  top pre-season goalscorer Darren Bent score twice.  David Bentley had opened the scoring in the 4th minute and scored again just before  half time.  Lennon added another and completed a good day for  Spurs and their supporters.

Shame it wasn’t for real !

FC Porto 2-1 Lazio

FC Porto and Lazio clashed on Sunday for a pre-season friendly  at the Estadio do Dragao. The Portuguese side won  2-1 after two first half goals scored by  Alves and  Gonzalez. The first goal was a classic  free kick .

Lazio pulled one back in the 73rd minute but despite pressure couldn’t get the equaliser. 

Newcastle 2-1 Valencia

Newcastle gained a late 2-1 win against Valencia in yesterday’s pre-season friendly played at  St. James’ Park. The visitors opened the score in the 38th minute. Damien Duff equalized for the Magpies in the 77th minute, while Milner scored the winning goal in the last moments of the match.

Manchester United 0-0 Portsmouth

Manchester United have won the 2008 Community Shield . United  defeated Portsmouth this afternoon after a penalty shoot-out. Normal time ended  goalless. United were the better side during the shoot-out and scored 3 times, while Pompey managed a single goal.

Chelsea 5-0 AC Milan

Chelsea have humiliated AC Milan in the final for the 3rd place at the Russian Railways Cup. The Blues have scored 5 times against the Italian side, managing to not concede any single goal.

Frank Lampard started the show and scored the opening goal in the 3rd minute. Nicholas Anelka was the hero of the day though. The French striker scored 4 times within 50 minutes. Anelka scored twice in the first half and the other two goal in the second part of the game. The hat-trick was completed in the 51st minute

Juventus 0-3 Hamburg SV

Hamburg have demolished Juventus 3-0 in the Emirates Cup. The German side won 3-0. Probably a harsh result considering that Hamburg scored their last two goals in injury time.

The Bundesliga squad opened the score in the 19th minute as Paolo Guerrero scored with a shot from inside of the box. The Italians pressured for the equalizer but couldn’t gain it

Arsenal 1-0 Real Madrid

Arsenal  defeated Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium  1-0. It was a match  for the Emirates Cup decided by Emmanuel Adebayor’s penalty kick goal.

The penalty shot was put away by Robin van Persie after a foul  by Michael Salgado. The Spanish players protested the referee’s decision but hey what’s new ?
